Regardless of whether your January consists of extended leave, work or skiing, we think you should begin with a fresh start. It may be time to challenge what you dare to wear, or even if you are looking for a new style direction that is more in line with where you are in life. Below we highlight some timeless classics that, if you do not already have them in your wardrobe, can take your winter wardrobe to new heights.
When it comes to choosing a down jacket, there are three important things to mention. It should keep you warm and at the same time as being both practical and stylish. Working with layers under the jacket can often add an extra dimension, such as a thicker overshirt, a coarsely knit turtleneck or a cardigan, allowing a glimpse of the t-shirt or shirt underneath. A pair of jeans or work wear trousers betters the durability, so you do not have to worry about going out in tough weather conditions. If rain, snow or slush fills the streets, you need a proper boot that keeps you warm and dry, or a low hiking shoe that has a reinforced sole with a prepared sole. A thicker sole gives you grip on slippery pavements but also works as a perfect off-road shoe for slippery winter walks.
Cashmere, cashmere and cashmere
For those who only settle for the best and who are looking for specialist brands, Finamore, Incotex and Piacenza Cashmere are three excellent choices. The shirt from Finamore, with its figure-hugging fit, is a more relaxed interpretation of the dress shirt. The composition of cotton and cashmere is comfortable and luxurious together with its small-scale check pattern, a detail that adds to the entirety of this look. A white dress shirt certainly works as well, but since the colour scheme is already so classic and "simple", the check pattern adds life to the outfit. On top of the shirt, we introduce the V-neck cashmere sweater, which can often be perceived as more formal than the crewneck pullover, and is perfect under a dark-coloured bomber jacket, also containing hints of cashmere in a relaxed vintage from Manchester-based Mackintosh.
Technical meets classic with Stone Island
This parka from Stone Island is one of a kind. The iconic Italian company has carried out the colouring of the outer shell at 130 degrees Celsius. This gives the material an exciting texture in both feel and drape, thus adding water-repellent properties to the jacket. An inner lining in fleece means that you also do not have to worry about the chilly winds. Pair with a cable knit fisherman's sweater from Gloverall, providing warmth and extra style with a simple white Oxford shirt underneath. Why not a pair of loafers in the model Reims from Paraboot. These loafers are ideal, as they work for a fine lunch, as well as a walk in snowy weather with the reinforced sole and robust leather. Top it off with a hat in a pop of colour.
