As spring's warmer temperatures arrive, it's tempting to dress lighter. It feels like an eternity since the last warm, sunny days, evoking childhood nostalgia. Important to remember is that temperature and wind can change faster than the time taken to ask for an extra blanket in the outdoor dining area. Layer-on-layer, technical jackets and knit sweaters and you’ll be prepared. Below we have three styles where you can gather inspiration.
Mixing different shades of the same colour in one look can usually give a stylish impression. The blue vest from NN07 is a real spring favourite at Care of Carl, perfect as an extra layer under a coat. It’s insulated with Primaloft, an insulating synthetic fabric that keeps you both warm, has high breathability and resists moisture better than down. The light blue shirt underneath is a versatile model for those who don't like high neck turtleneck sweaters, but still want to add some warmth around the neck. Pair with a striped, straight fitting shirt to add a twist along with a pair of corduroy trousers. Finish the look by pairing a thicker rubber soled shoe. The model Michael from France’s Paraboot is a timeless derby that is timeless and very comfortable.
Classic elements are always a safe bet. This UBR jacket is an updated model of an iconic field jacket and is equipped with a range of technical details. The jacket features stretch, allowing for increased mobility, it is also wind resistant and waterproof, keeping you warm and dry. The practical pockets provide excellent storage for mobile phones and keys. The jacket has a dressy fit, allowing for a perfect combination with a pair of classic 501s from Levi's. To add some colour, Italy’s Zanone provide a pop cotton sweater in mint green. For those who feel insecure about wearing bright colours, keep the rest of the clothes in similar shades to balance the colour of the sweater. A pair of Chelsea boots from Loake are comfortable and great for many years to come.
Wool overshirt for the colder days
The overshirt is perhaps one of those garments that individually makes your style more interesting. It is simple, stylish and can be styled in many different ways. You get a dressy approach from the structure of the overshirt, while not being too formal, as a blazer can often be. If you choose to wear the overshirt as an outer garment, a wool composition will keep you significantly warmer than the more easily accessible cotton models. White jeans signify that spring is coming (although you can wear these all year round). To avoid feeling misplaced in the often-grey surroundings, the white colour can be muted by pairing with garments of soft, neutral colours such as beige, brown and cream.
